What is Mastering?
Mastering a song or beat is like taking the rough draft of the beat and turning it into the final draft.
During this process you make sure your song doesn't clip and no one particular sound stands out because it is too loud or too soft. You must tweak the the beat so it sounds just right and sounds professional the way you want it.
How to Master : There is many different ways to master your music. I would recommend connecting with a mentor when you are first going through the mastering stage. If you dont have a mentor you can always go on youtube and there are hundreds of tutorial videos on how to master with the certain program you are using.
There are a couple great software programs you can use to master your beats like Avid Pro Tools 10 and Ableton Live, descriptions of these programs are located on the software page.
Why Mastering is so important : I can't stress how important mastering your music is before you put it out to the public. You want your listener to hear only the best sound quality of what you have to offer them. To increase your dynamic range, quality, clarity and balance (EQ) you must master your beats yourself or have a mentor help master your music.
